We recently finished up our traditional school year with our Gather ‘Round Forest Animals unit study, and as I’m typing this, the house is filled with an excited buzz as we prepare to go on our end-of-unit study field trip to a zoo! Our homeschool co-op finished up last week, along with our church’s Wednesday night programming, both of which had evening programs where we got to celebrate our kids’ accomplishments!

This means it’s SUMMER! This also means that I’ve attempted to formulate a summer homeschool plan that includes finishing up our 1st graders math program and a rather detailed summer morning basket and morning menu, which is probably why you’ve landed on this page!

Our popular original morning menu includes a FREEBIE version, so be sure to check that out if you are looking for a freebie-style morning menu (make sure to select the freebie version in the drop-down). However, if you are looking for summer-themed morning menu printables, then keep scrolling because I’ve got the printables for you!

What is a Morning Menu?

A morning menu is a creative and organized way to start your homeschool day. It is a group of practices, recitations, or skills that a child will repeat each morning in printable form. Modeled after those familiar restaurant menus, these booklets are filled with pages you can slip into menus, page protectors or dry-erase sleeves, making them reusable with dry-erase markers. Think of it as your personal education breakfast special, served up with structure and fun!

They can be used during circle time activities, as independent work, or even alongside lesson plans. It’s the perfect way to establish a peaceful rhythm in your daily routine.

Morning Basket

If you already enjoy a homeschool morning basket time, a morning time menu is simply another way to organize those first minutes of the day. This summer, we are pairing morning basket and morning menu times together and utilizing them to anchor our summer months with calm educational activities.

Pair your morning basket or menu with your read-alouds, a bible verse, or even a folk song/hymn, and you’ve got yourself a solid start to the day. We’ve used morning menu pages as a part of our favorite parts of our morning time schedule, and they work great whether you have younger kids or elementary students.

What is Inside the Summer Morning Menu

This morning menu bundle includes 70+ beautiful and thoughtfully arranged pages, all formatted as a PDF file and a Canva template. Print them at home or through your local print shop, and slip them into a book of transparent pages or sheet protectors. These are the restaurant menus that we use!

Here is what you’ll see included in our summer morning menu printables!

1. Emotional Development

These themed pages are a fun way to explore feelings and learn emotional vocabulary. Great for young children working on self-regulation and social-emotional learning. I’ve also included some spelling/copy work for those older kids.

2. Name Practice

Name-writing pages are included for young learners. Use dry erase markers and velcro to let them practice over and over again! A simple way to help children recognize and spell their names.

3. Letter Practice

From tracing letters to recognizing them in words, these practice pages support letter formation and early literacy.

4. Number and Math Practice

Counting, math facts, and number recognition exercises fill these morning work pages. Tailored for a range of levels, from beginner counting to early elementary students.

5. Nature Study and Weather

Add a weather page, months of the year, and days of the week to your morning time menu. There are also pages for nature study and journaling about what they see outside, creating a unique opportunity to connect with the world around them.

6. Colors and Shapes

Ideal for preschool morning menu printables, these bright and cheerful pages reinforce basic colors and shapes with matching activities, drawing prompts, and visual cues.

7. Maze and Coloring Pages

These printable pages give kids a break from academics while still engaging their brains. Perfect for independent work or when you need a moment to prep the next part of the homeschool day.

There are three mazes that include an easy, intermediate, and hard level. I’ve also included an answer key for those who desire it. Don’t forget to leave these off of what you print!

8. Copy Work and Memorization

Use these pages for copy work of scripture, bible verses memorization, and some practical memorization like the Pledge of Allegiance. We’re honestly not super big on recitation in our family, but I always want to be better at it!
