Tiny Hands Board Books – Review

We love it when you share!

Recently I was contacted by a ‘new to me’ company called “P & R” Publishing wanting to know if I would like to review some new books. After I took a peek at their website and content, my answer was ‘Of course!’ The books looked right up my alley for homeschooling and faith purposes. I was eager to receive some new books to take a peek at and to say I’ve been very happy with the books would be an understatement.

The favorite book series I was sent so far is called “Tiny Hands”. There are three board books in the series. The “Tiny Hands” book series makes fantastic gifts for baby showers, holidays, or birthdays. It would also be lovely to gift yourself or your own little one!

Our Favorite Part – Currently my favorite book is Tiny Hands: HymnsMy 1-year-old loves listening to these beautiful hymns sung or spoken. I know that our fourth child, who is coming will enjoy it too!

Where can I buy these books, what are the best ages for these books, and where can I buy them? Let’s dive deeper into those questions.

P & R Publishing

The P & R in the book publishing company stands for “Presbyterian and Reformed,” which should give you a little insight into the types of books that they publish. The company has been around since 1930 and was founded by Samuel G. Craig and J. Gresham Machen. The company averages around 40 new titles a year with topics ranging from apologetics to worldview, and children’s books.

You can read more about their foundation, which is a fascinating tale, here.

Tiny Hands Books

The Tiny Hands books were released in 2023 and there are three in the series. We love them all but are particularly partial to the hymns book. It contains eight hymns with vibrant illustrations. These are enduring hymns of the faith that will sure to still be in the church’s repertoire for years to come.

  • Holy, Holy, Holy
  • Be Thou My Vision
  • Amazing Grace
  • This Is My Father’s World
  • Great Is Thy Faithfulness
  • Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing
  • Crown Him with Many Crowns
  • Doxology

Tiny Hands: Prayers cover different prayers from scripture in which the character actually said a prayer. The book starts out with Mary’s prayer from Luke 1. It gives a four-sentence summary of the prayer and ends with ‘amen’. It also covers Hannah’s prayer in 1 Samuel 2, Daniel’s prayer in Daniel 9, Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 3, David’s prayer in Psalm 130, The Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6, The Saint’s Prayer in Revelation 19, and finally the High Priest’s Prayer in Numbers 6.

The last book is Tiny Hands: Promises and this book covers eight covenant promises that God made to his people in the Old and New Testaments. These promises include:

  • “I Will Be With You”
  • “You Are My Sheep”
  • “Ask and I Will Give”
  • “I Am Strong When You Are Weak”
  • “I Will Show You the Way”
  • “I Will Forgive You”
  • “I Will Change Your Heart”
  • “I’m Coming Back”

The book series is written by Hannah Duguid Estes and illustrated by Jessica Hiatt. I love that Hannah Estes used to work for Westminster Theological Seminary before marrying her husband. What a job! The books are theologically sound and beautifully illustrated with vibrant colors.

Layout

Each book has a very basic layout. On the right side is a colorful heading with the prayer, scripture, or hymn written in large text below. On the right side is a vibrantly illustrated page that represents the text. Each book has eight sections. The board book pages are thick for little hands, easy to reach, and the perfect size for toddlers and babies.

Where to Buy the Tiny Hands Book Series

I highly encourage you to buy these books from P & R Publishing as a bundle as it is a great publishing company that produces gospel-filled books for all ages.

These smaller companies need more of our support than Amazon does! Don’t worry though, there’s no condemnation from me if you choose to buy from Amazon, as this is the way you can support our blog and ministry through my affiliate links.

I have provided both links for your convenience!

Final Mom Thoughts

So the question remains, are they worth adding to your library of kids’ books? Absolutely. They are very well done and perfect for baby showers, holidays, birthdays, and other gift-giving occasions. I personally would also just buy them to have around for my little ones as they provide foundational biblical truths that even the smallest of kids can start to learn!
