Why teach about the Battle of Jericho?
The entire Bible is packed with amazing stories of God’s provision and blessing on God’s people. The story of Joshua and the Israelites coming into the promised land is an exciting turning point in the book of Joshua. Joshua, as the leader of the Israelites, is tasked with bringing them into the promised land and this epic story of the trumpets blowing and the strong walls tumbling down is sure to please older kids and younger kids alike.
The story of the battle of Jericho is a fun lesson to teach children children God’s great power, God’s sovereignty, God’s help, his mighty power, and miracles. It is also a great lesson to teach about obedience. The Israelites followed God’s instructions and were rewarded by entering the land which was promised.
My kids loved this homeschooling lesson because we made a Jericho tower and knocked it down with water balloons!

Ideas for Using the Jericho Coloring Pages
These Jericho coloring pages and printable pictures are great for a homeschool class, Sunday School, children’s church, Bible classes, VBS, co-ops, preschools, or any other number of preschool activities. In the included activities is also a final page with a printable horn!
We specifically used them with our homeschooling. We have been using the curriculum “Let Them Be Little” curriculum by Little House Learning. It is a wonderful curriculum to use if you love hands-on activities and intentional time with your little one. Although our curriculum is not ‘Christian’ in nature, the author is a believer and it’s very easy to integrate Bible lessons into her daily itinerary.
Ideas for using the Jericho Coloring Pages
- Laminate them and then use them time and time again with dry-erase markers.
- Just print and use your favorite coloring materials (we prefer our clickable markers so our markers don’t dry out!
- We also had a lot of fun building our own ‘Jericho Towers’ and then knocking them down with water balloons.
- As a bonus, I have included in the download a printable trumpet you can color, cut out, and fold up to use as a trumpet.

Each coloring page has a Bible verse from the story of Joshua and the Battle of Jericho. You could also use these as memory verses!

The Joshua chapter is taken from the ESV version of the Bible. These verses give an explanation of the story and also help root the Bible lesson in scripture.
