5 Verses to Remind Us of God’s Unfailing Love

We love it when you share!

Do we truly believe God loves us unconditionally? We hear about his love all the time, but do we believe that his unfailing love is for us? Do we trust that he accepts us just the way we are? Even now, my mind struggles to comprehend this amazing truth.

God’s unfailing love screams out in the truth of scripture. The Bible is saturated with reminders of God’s unending love toward believers and unbelievers alike. Do you believe that? It’s time to believe that God’s unfailing love is for you.

What is God’s Unending or God’s Unfailing Love?

Simply put, one of God’s qualities is that he does everything perfectly. So His love is likewise perfect. His love is beyond human comprehension. What we consider love may be far from what a perfectly loving God does. God’s love stretches beyond what our minds can comprehend.

Think about this, he loved you before you were born. He loved you 1000 years ago. He loved you 2000 years ago. What an incredible God.

Give thanks to the God of heaven, for his steadfast love endures forever.

Psalm 136:26 ESV

The other exceptionally important thing to note is that in scripture God defines His love through His son Jesus Christ.

See 1 John 4:10

What are the Characteristics of God’s Love?

One of the best verses in the Bible to explain the characteristics of God’s love is found in Galatians

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Galatians 5:22-23

The amazing thing about this verse however is that we as humans will strive to perfect these throughout our life. However, God does them perfectly all of the time.

We can look to the fruits of the Spirit and be reminded that we are justified by Jesus Christ and He brings us the Fruits of the Spirit. There is never a time that we can perfect them, but we can look to Jesus and strive toward his example and perfect love that is evident in the Fruits of the Spirit.

5 Verses to Remind us of God’s Unfailing Love

The Bible is filled with verses about God’s unfailing love, we never could cover all of them here! These are just 5 of verses that stand out as we contemplate and consider God’s love.

God Shows His Love to Sinners

I was a pastor’s daughter, so I grew up going to church. Even though I was raised in the church for as long as I can remember, my relationship with Jesus did not become real until I got saved at the age of 10.

It may sound cliche, but I went to church camp and saw so many children my age on fire for Jesus. I wanted the boldness that they had for the Lord and so I gave my heart and life to God one night and committed my way to him.

“For God so loved the world,[a] that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16

A Reminder of God’s Unending Love During Tough Times

Fast forward to the age of fifteen. I had been battling some joint pain off and on for about 2 years with no known cause. I had been to various doctors with no answers.

Finally, after a series of tests, I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis. My world came crashing in around me the day I found out my diagnosis.

Ankylosing Spondylitis is an autoimmune disorder with no cure. I would have to fight this disease for the rest of my life (unless God decided to heal me on earth).

Words can’t begin to express the emotions that came with this diagnosis. I’m sure most of you know and remember what crazy time teen years are anyway and adding a chronic illness certainly didn’t help.

The devil began to attack my mind in ways that I have never experienced before. I entered a very dark place.

A spirit of depression came over me and I began to deal with the temptation to harm myself and had thoughts that I would be better off dead. I would have moments where I would even wish that I were dead. There were times when I had planned the end to a tee.

Tough times are not above God’s sovereignty to handle.

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:38-39

Remembering God’s Love when You Feel Guilty

While many people mean well, they sometimes say things when they find out about your depression that causes you to feel guilty. They will say things like “just pray more” or “so many people have it worse than you do, just be more thankful”.

While I can understand where these individuals come from, these statements can cause the individual with depression to feel guilty (know someone with depression but don’t know what to say? Here’s a great article on how to support those who are depressed/or suicidal.

I was depressed, I had lost all hope and joy in life, I wished I was dead, I blamed myself, and I felt that I had no one I could talk to. Life was so dark but then, something happened….

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.

John 15:9-10

Sometimes guilt is the conviction of sin. Other times it is unrest in our soul that needs to be given to Jesus. Regardless, abide in him. Abide in his love. When you abide in God, your cup of blessings will overflow.

Coming Through-A Testimony of God’s Unfailing Love

I recently watched 6 Below: Miracle on the Mountain. It’s an amazing true story of Eric Lamarque’s miraculous survival after he was lost on a mountain for 8 days. The thing that touched me the most was that even though he survived, he had to learn to live without his legs.

Sometimes, we go through difficult things that will change the course of our lives forever. We survive situations and we go through them, but we are different. Our lives are changed forever.

It is up to you to decide how you want to move forward in your new life once you survive difficult things.

Throughout the years, I began to learn how to live with my illness. I started medications, I went to counseling, and most of all I began to seek the Lord. I was desperate and I knew I wouldn’t make it without him.

While my deliverance didn’t happen overnight, I was eventually delivered from the spirit of oppression that had surrounded me. Now at 26, I write on my own blog Miranda Rejoice and encourage people to rejoice in hope and to find joy in the journey of life.

God will love you through your struggle. God is no respecter of persons so if he can take the dark places of my life and turn them into a ministry, he can do the same for you. You just must trust him with it (I know from experience that is easier said than done).

If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

1 Corinthians 13:1-3

The Steadfast Love of God

When I felt as though my world was gone, Jesus was still there and still loving on me. When I felt guilty, I could read his word and remember that he gives me mercy every single morning.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
    his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:22-23

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. Like Paul, I am convinced that nothing can separate us from the love of God. No sickness, no depression, no struggle, can separate us from God’s love.

The Lord’s love protects, trusts, hopes, perseveres, and above all, it never fails (see 1 Corinthians 13:7-8).

When we stand in God’s love, we have nothing to fear. God loved us so much he gave his son as a sacrifice for our sins. Because of God’s great love, we are victorious no matter what the circumstance.

I always heard that “worship is you loving on Jesus and Jesus loving on you”. Worship God for he is your Lord. He loves you with unfailing love.

Dear Lord,

Thank you for sending your
son to die on the cross for my sins. Thank you for loving me even when I
couldn’t love myself. Please forgive me. Come into my heart. Be Lord of my life
and help me to live for you. Help me to trust you no matter what.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen
