Papa Bear Naturals Reviews are everywhere right now, mostly because the company seems to be exploding! My review comes from someone who started with their products early on in the company life. It comes from real-life use in a busy home, with sensitive skin, muddy kids, hard work, and a deep appreciation for simple, traditional methods that actually work.
I’ve been using Papa Bear Naturals long enough now to confidently share what we love, what we reach for daily, and why these products have earned a permanent place in our home.

A Real-Life Introduction to Papa Bear Naturals
My history with Papa Bear Naturals starts early in 2024 when they reached out to me over Instagram and wondered if I would be willing to try their products. I want to be completely honest up front. They contacted me about being a part of their affiliate program. I remember browsing their website and realizing how closely they aligned with me, plus I was overjoyed to see that they were a US-based company!
I think they had maybe two products up on their website at that point. Maybe it was slightly more, but nothing close to the dozens of products they currently sell.
Truth be told, once that first little jar of tallow balm came and I experienced a premium skincare line, I was hooked.
Papa Bear Naturals is one of those companies you don’t just try—you slowly integrate it into daily life. From beef tallow moisturizers to laundry detergent, their products are made in small batches using traditional methods, and you can feel the intention behind them.

The Benefits of Tallow: Tradition Meets Science
Beef tallow has been used for centuries, and for good reason. From a scientific standpoint, tallow closely mimics the fatty acid profile of human skin. That means it absorbs efficiently and supports the skin barrier instead of fighting against it.
Tallow moisturizers are rich in fat-soluble vitamins like A, D, E, and K, which support skin health, repair, and elasticity. This is why tallow balms are especially beneficial for sensitive skin, eczema-prone areas, and deeply dry or damaged skin.
Papa Bear Naturals keeps this process simple—no shortcuts, no over-processing. Just traditional methods that respect both the ingredient and the body it’s meant to support.
Why Our Family Keeps Reaching for These Products
When you have a full household, products don’t get a pass for being “cute” or trendy. They need to work. Here’s what our family genuinely uses and loves:
Whipped Tallow Lotion – Rachael’s Favorite
This is the one I reach for daily. Actually, twice a day, or more during the winter! The whipped tallow lotion is rich without feeling heavy, deeply moisturizing, and incredibly soothing for sensitive skin. As someone who washes hands constantly, works outside, and lives in a dry climate part of the year, this lotion feels like nourishment—not just hydration.
It absorbs beautifully and leaves skin soft without a greasy residue. I’m often asked if I prefer the vanilla or lavender scent better. Both are great, but I typically end up ordering the lavender scent the most!
This past holiday season, they did come out with a pumpkin scent, and quite honestly, it’s not my favorite, and I probably won’t order it again. It’s a very subtle scent, which I did appreciate, but the scent profile just seemed a bit off to me!
10/10, this is the product I recommend the MOST!

Tallow Candles – Rachael’s Second Favorite
If I had to name my second-favorite Papa Bear Naturals product, it would be their candles. They’re the kind of candles that naturally weave themselves into everyday life instead of being saved for special occasions. The scents are gentle and comforting—not overpowering or artificial—and they create a calm, cozy atmosphere that feels right at home during slow mornings, dinner prep, or quiet evenings once the house settles.
These aren’t overpowering, headache-inducing scents. The fragrances are soft, cozy, and grounding—perfect for early mornings, slow afternoons, or evenings when the house finally settles.
What really stands out is how thoughtfully they’re made. Like the rest of Papa Bear Naturals’ products, these candles reflect their commitment to small batches and traditional methods. They burn clean and evenly, last a long time, and don’t leave behind that heavy scent that lingers in the air. In a home full of kids, that matters. They feel simple, intentional, and warm—one of those small details that quietly make our home feel more peaceful and lived-in.
I have purchased a shameful amount of their Christmas Apple Orchard scent, and I really do hope that they come up with more scents as time goes on!

Regular Tallow Balm – Dan’s Go-To
Dan (my husband) is practical. If something doesn’t work, he won’t keep using it. The regular tallow balm has become his staple for dry hands, cracked skin, fighting eczema, and rough patches from physical labor. No fragrance overload, no unnecessary fillers—just effective tallow balms made the old-fashioned way.

Bum Balm – A Non-Negotiable in Our Home
This one deserves its own mention. The bum balm is gentle, protective, and effective. Whether you’re dealing with diaper rash or general skin irritation, this product does what it promises without causing further sensitivity. It’s especially reassuring knowing exactly what’s going on with our baby’s skin.
This is a thicker formula, and it tends to go on better when it’s warm. I usually take a small portion and rub it around on my hands to warm it up before I put it on my baby’s bum. Works every time!

Tallow Sun Block – Simple and Thoughtful Protection
I love having a sunblock option that aligns with our values. The tallow sun block offers mineral-based protection without harsh additives. It’s not flashy, but it’s thoughtful—something I feel good about using on my kids during long outdoor days.
If you’ve ever gone down the path of looking at what is in traditional sunblock, it may have freaked you out, as it did me! Here is the official list from Papa Bear on what is included in their sunblock:
- Grass-Fed Tallow
- Non-nano Zinc Oxide
- Local Beeswax
- Honey
- Jojoba Oil
- Coconut Oil
- Cocoa Powder
It was an absolute relief when I found a sunblock without all the chemicals!

Bear Skin Body Wash – Gentle Enough for Everyone
This body wash is mild, nourishing, and doesn’t strip the skin. I used to use their tallow soap bars, and although they are great, I much prefer the body wash. I’ve even used it as shampoo for my babies and toddlers!

Laundry Detergent – Clean Clothes Without the Extras
Their laundry detergent is another quiet win. However, this is a newer product for us, so the jury is probably still out. To date, I’ve used it for 3 loads of laundry and the clothes definitely come out clean. There is no ‘detergent’ smell that I’ve picked up on, so if you like your clothes smelling like a specific product, this may not be for you. My clothes smell like fabric when they come out!
Clothes come out clean, fresh, and free from overpowering scents. So far, it’s worked for our entire family and doesn’t aggravate skin sensitivities—which is huge.
Note- I would not recommend this for cloth diapers.
A Company Whose Values Align With Ours
What sets Papa Bear Naturals apart isn’t just the product—it’s the heart behind it. This is a company built on hard work, intention, and a respect for traditional practices. Everything is made in small batches, which means quality control isn’t outsourced—it’s personal.
As a family that values stewardship, simplicity, and knowing where our products come from, their mission aligns naturally with our lifestyle. It doesn’t feel mass-produced or rushed—it feels cared for.

About Affiliate Links—and Why This One Is Different
I want to be transparent: I am an affiliate for Papa Bear Naturals. And honestly? That wasn’t always something I felt good about with other companies.
I’ve worked with affiliate companies before where quality slipped, communication was poor, or the values didn’t match the messaging. Papa Bear Naturals has been different. They treat their affiliates like an actual part of the company instead of just another aspect of it.
I only share what we genuinely use in our home. Although PapaBear originally approached me back in 2024, I have no doubt that I would have purchased these products anyways. This partnership feels like a natural extension of that—supporting a company I trust, while helping others find products that truly serve their families.
So now the dreaded sales pitch. If you want to get your hands on premium tallow products and want a discount to boot, use this link for 10% off your order. I also frequently do giveaways over on Instagram or through my newsletter, so be sure to check those links out as well and see what’s going on!
Final Thoughts on Papa Bear Naturals
This isn’t a hype-based review. It’s a lived-in one.
Papa Bear Naturals has earned our trust through consistency, care, and products that do what they claim—without unnecessary extras. From lip balms and tallow moisturizers to body wash and laundry detergent, these are staples we rely on at this point.
If you’re looking for simple, effective skincare rooted in tradition and backed by real-life use, this is a company worth considering.
And from one homemaker to another—there’s something comforting about products that feel steady, honest, and made with purpose.
