My Review of “Coop Helps Out” | New Growth Press |

We love it when you share!

In the second edition of the “The Wheelies” series, Coop learns an important lesson about how by serving others, we can also serve Jesus. In Coop Helps Out children will hear about how helping family and friends is a good way to show the love of Jesus. Children will be captivated by a fun story about cars and trucks, with beautiful illustrations and another story of grace and truth.

Our Favorite Part – My kids were not quite sure about their favorite part, besides the fact that they love a story about cars! My favorite part was quite clear though. After Coop starts to understand how valuable his Pops is, he realizes this truth: “Pops wasn’t just a garbage truck. He was a servant like Jesus!” What a powerful reminder to us all!

Where can I buy these books, what are the best ages for these books, and where can I buy them? Let’s dive deeper into those questions.

Coop Helps Out

For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Mark 10:45 ESV

Coop is a small car who lives in Capital City with his family. He loves his ‘Pops’ and looks up to him for wisdom and love. Pops is a garbage truck and Coop thinks that he is the strongest truck in Capital City.

All this changes one day when a shiny race car shows up named Demas. As Demas makes fun of Pops being a garbage truck and the smell that must accompany him, for the first time Coop feels embarrassed to be the son of a garbage truck.

The story progresses with Pop getting sick and Coop learning a valuable lesson about what it means to serve others, just like Christ did.

Children not only hear the value of Christ-like servanthood but also see Coop implement what it means to step up and serve others.

More about the Author

This is Sarah Reju’s second book published by New Growth Press, but she is no stranger to publishing books. One of her more popular published books is Jesus Saves which offers toddlers a simple explanation of the gospel.

The following was taken from the new Growth Press website:

Sarah Reju, MDiv, is a pastor’s wife and mother living in Washington, DC. She is the author of Jesus Saves, God Is Better Than Trucks, and God Is Better Than Princesses. Sarah and her husband, Deepak, have five children.

More about the Illustrator

The following was taken from the New Growth Press website:

Tania Rex was born and raised in Vilnius, Lithuania. She’s happiest when she can take an idea and turn it into a picture. Experimenting with styles and drawing is how she spends most of her spare time. Tania draws inspiration from little everyday miracles, aiming to point the audience’s attention to the ever-present magic of real life.

The Layout

Once again, New Growth Press has published a stunning book with beautiful illustrations. The text has a sing-song nature, which allows the readers to listen and engage in a fun way. Each single page has about 5-6 sentences, which is great for the younger readers to stay engaged.

Recommended Ages

Coop Helps Out is recommended for ages 3-8. I personally think that the spiritual truths that are presented correspond with the recommended ages. Don’t be afraid to present the book to those younger or older as we all can benefit from a lesson on serving others. My 2-year-old loved the previous release called Coop Messes Up, and I’m confident he will love the images and sing-song nature of this book as well!

Where to Buy

Coop Helps Out

I highly encourage you to buy these books from New Growth Press as it is a great publishing company that produces gospel-filled books for all ages.

These smaller companies need more of our support than Amazon does! Don’t worry though, there’s no condemnation from me if you choose to buy from Amazon, as I frequently use them too. Just please consider shopping away from it when you can.

I have provided both links for your convenience!

We have so many New Growth Press-published books and we have never been disappointed with the content. Another recent favorite has been The Treasure by Marty Machowski

Final Mom Thoughts

Coop Helps Out is a valuable book to add to your Christian book collection! The storyline is easy to follow and the theological concepts are deep, but understandable for children.

Don’t forget to pin for later!
