Something has switched for me lately. I used to feel obligated to plan out my Christmas mostly because it helped my brain space, and I am such a type A personality that it was plain ole’ fun. But in recent years, with working full time, homeschooling, homesteading (sort of), and mothering five boys with a very chaotic backstory to our life, I have found planning Christmas a deep necessity. It’s a requirement to keep the joy of the season intact. I want a beautiful holiday season filled with meaningful family traditions, thoughtful gifts, Christmas baking, and time spent celebrating the birth of Jesus. When I plan, budget, and have lists organized and in one place, the season is able to happen in that format.

Can you relate? That desire for a more intentional Christmas is what inspired me to create The Ultimate Christmas Planner, a beautifully designed, 31-page printable Christmas planner to help you organize the details of the holiday season without losing sight of what matters most. The original Ultimate Christmas Planner launched in 2019. After many years of tweaks and adjustments, I now have what I consider the best edition for 2026!

From gift lists and Christmas cards to grocery shopping lists, holiday baking, and your Christmas budget, this planner gives you one place to gather the details of your Christmas preparation. With a little planning ahead, you can spend less time worrying about what you’ve forgotten and more time enjoying the joyful moments that make this time of year special.

How Do I Plan Christmas Without All the Stress?

The anticipation of Christmas is wonderful. The decorations, the traditions, the smells of something baking in the oven, and the excitement of gathering with family all make this one of my favorite times of year. Yet the chaos of the festive season can sometimes overshadow the very things we look forward to most.

We want peaceful Christmas mornings, meaningful family memories, and time to reflect on the birth of our Savior. We want to enjoy decorating the tree, making a gingerbread house with the children, watching our favorite Christmas movies, and gathering around the table for Christmas dinner.

But between shopping, cooking, budgeting, and trying to remember every little detail, Christmas can quickly become a lot of work.

I believe a little organization can help. Not because we need to make Christmas bigger or fill every moment with another activity, but because thoughtful holiday planning can help us recognize what matters to our families and prepare for it with greater intention.

As mothers, we often carry so many of the details of Christmas in our minds. We remember the gifts, the meals, the cards, the decorations, and the traditions we hope to create. The Ultimate Christmas Planner helps bring those details onto paper so you can make decisions ahead of time and approach the coming weeks with less stress.

As I mentioned above, I originally made this planner in 2019 and even made a booklet of it to sell on Amazon, which is still available if you think you’d like that 2019 version. Over the years, I’ve tweaked what I use the most and redesigned it to make it better and more optimized for moms in 2026,

Keeping Christ at the Center of Christmas

The Christmas season is ultimately about Jesus Christ and the good news of His coming and anticipation of His coming again. In the middle of our preparations, it is easy to become so focused on the activities surrounding Christmas that we forget to pause and remember why we celebrate.

Personally, Christmas is my favorite time of year. I love the sights, sounds, smells, and traditions of the season. I also recognize that many of the expectations surrounding Christmas come from our culture rather than from the things we genuinely value.

How do we find a balance? I believe we can begin by asking ourselves what we want our Christmas to look like and why. Which traditions bring joy to our families? Which activities are worth the effort? What can we simplify, change, or leave behind this year?

The goal isn’t to create a perfect Christmas. It’s to approach the season thoughtfully, making room for the people we love and remembering the Savior who came to redeem His people. My hope is that this Christmas planner will help you organize the practical details while keeping your heart focused on what matters most.

What Is Included in The Ultimate Christmas Planner?

The Ultimate Christmas Planner is a 31-page printable planner that helps you organize the many different categories of Christmas preparation. From your first holiday checklist to your reflections for next year, you’ll have dedicated planning pages to help you keep track of the details.

⬇️Get it on Gumroad or Etsy!⬇️

The planner features beautiful watercolor greenery, classic Christmas colors, and space to write down your plans, lists, goals, and notes. You can print the pages you need, keep the entire planner together, and return to it throughout the festive season.

1. Christmas Calendar, Checklist, and Goals

Start your holiday planning with a Christmas calendar, a comprehensive checklist, and a space to write down your Christmas goals. These opening pages help you see what is coming, identify your priorities, and decide what you want to accomplish before the big day.

Rather than filling your daily planner with a long list of tasks that never seems to end, use these pages to make a realistic plan for your family.

2. Christmas Budget and Spending Tracker

Holiday expenses can add up quickly. Between gifts, groceries, decorations, Christmas cards, and special outings, it is easy to spend more than you intended.

The Christmas budget pages give you space to plan your spending by category, record actual costs, and keep notes for next year. Use them as a budget tracker throughout the coming weeks so you can make thoughtful decisions about where your money goes.

3. Christmas Cards and Mailing Lists

If sending Christmas cards is one of your favorite traditions, you’ll appreciate having a dedicated place to keep track of your list. The Christmas card pages include space for names, addresses, and checkboxes to mark cards as sent.

Planning your Christmas cards ahead of time can make this tradition feel much more manageable. Gather your addresses early, decide how many cards you want to send, and set aside time to prepare them before the busiest days of the season arrive.

4. Christmas Shopping and Gift Lists

Gift-giving can be one of the most enjoyable parts of Christmas, but it also involves a lot of little details. Between finding thoughtful gift ideas, comparing prices, tracking online orders, and making sure everything is wrapped, it helps to have a system.

The Ultimate Christmas Planner includes dedicated shopping pages, Black Friday and Cyber Monday planners, an online order tracker, and individual gift list and budget pages for five children. There is also a stocking stuffer planning page to help you organize those smaller gifts.

5. Christmas Party Planner and Family Traditions

Christmas is about more than the things we buy. It is also about the memories we make with the people God has placed in our lives.

You’ll find a Christmas traditions and activities page where you can record your favorite family traditions and Christmas movies. Use it to create a Christmas bucket list with ideas such as building a gingerbread house, visiting a Christmas tree farm, baking cookies, reading Christmas books, or enjoying a cozy family movie night.

The Christmas party planner includes space for your date, time, location, guest list, invitations, budget, menu, and decorations. Whether you’re hosting a large gathering or a simple family celebration, you can use this page to bring the details together.

6. Christmas Decorations and Inventory

Decorating for Christmas is one of the ways we make our homes feel festive and welcoming. However, remembering what we already own, where it is stored, and what needs replacing can become a project of its own.

The planner includes Christmas decoration checklists and inventory pages for different areas of your home, including living spaces, bedrooms, outdoor decorations, and kitchen and dining items. There is also a dedicated Christmas tree planner to record your tree theme, colors, location, decorations, and any ornaments you need.

These pages make it easier to plan your decorating before pulling every box out of storage. You can also add notes about what worked well this year and what you want to change next year.

7. Christmas Dinner, Meal Planning, and Holiday Baking

Food is often a central part of our Christmas celebrations. Between the main meal, side dishes, desserts, appetizers, and holiday baking, there are plenty of details to organize.

The Christmas dinner planner gives you space to map out your menu, while the holiday baking pages help you keep track of recipes and ingredients. The Christmas grocery list provides a dedicated place to gather everything you need for grocery shopping.

Use these planning pages to create your cooking schedule, organize recipe ideas, and prepare your grocery lists ahead of time. You can plan which recipes you’ll make in the days leading up to Christmas Eve, so you aren’t trying to accomplish everything at once.

A little meal planning can make the kitchen feel less hectic and leave you more time to enjoy the people gathered around your table.

8. Next Year Planning and Notes

One of the most helpful parts of holiday planning is taking a few minutes to reflect when the season is over. What worked well? What felt unnecessarily stressful? Which traditions did your family love, and what would you like to do differently?

The final planning pages give you room to record your reflections, special ideas, and reminders for next year. Instead of starting from scratch when the next Christmas season arrives, you’ll have a record of what you learned this year.

Make Room for a More Joyful Christmas

Christmas planning will never remove every unexpected moment or guarantee a perfectly peaceful holiday. Plans change, children get sick, recipes don’t always turn out as expected, and life continues even during our favorite time of year.

But a little planning can help us approach the season with greater intention. When you’ve written down your gift lists, organized your Christmas budget, planned your meals, and decided which traditions matter most, you can spend less time trying to remember every detail and more time enjoying the moments right in front of you.

My hope is that The Ultimate Christmas Planner will help you prepare for a meaningful Christmas without feeling as though you have to do it all. May your home be filled with the joy of Christ, the warmth of family, and the peace that comes from remembering the true reason we celebrate.

Merry Christmas!

  1. The point about planning being a necessity rather than a fun extra resonates, but the decorations inventory section is where I’d add one tweak: before buying anything new, photograph what you already store and note where each box lives. That way next year’s setup starts with a visual check instead of digging through bins. Also, keep a running list of what you actually used versus what stayed boxed, so future purchases are based on real gaps.
