Are you feeling forgotten by God? Life sometimes throws us curve balls that make us feel isolated and alone, but the bible says we are never forgotten, even in the darkest of times.

The Forgotten Mom
The other day I was outside watching my children play at the local park. I was enjoying hearing their squeals of laughter while the sun warmed my skin. But after a few minutes, a cloud came through that blocked out some of the sun’s light. Suddenly, the world seemed dreary, and I shivered in the cold.
Life is like that sometimes.
We have moments where the sun is shining, and everything feels great. Our prayers are being answered. We go to church and laugh with friends. We blast worship songs on the radio and sing God’s praises at the top of our lungs.
God Has Forgotten Me
But then there are days when the clouds roll in and everything feels dreary. When our prayers seem to fall short of heaven’s doors. When we go to church and it feels like no one even notices that we are there. Every song on the radio just reminds us of how disheartening life is right now. And so, we go home and curl up under the blankets, feeling overlooked, neglected, and forgotten. We are feeling forgotten by God.
When the clouds cover our sky or we wake up in the middle of the darkest night, we know that the sun is still there. Even when we can’t see it, we know it still exists.
In the same way, we may not always see God at work in our lives, but He is still there.
What Does the Bible Say About Feeling Forgotten by God?
God spoke to me about this reality one day at church. During worship, a young lady caught my eye. She was holding a little baby girl in her arms and she was swaying to the beat of the music. She leaned over the baby girl’s face and started singing over her.
And God brought to my mind Zephaniah 3:17
The Lord your God is with you,
the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing.
Zephaniah 3:17 NIV
My pastor told us once that just because we don’t feel loved, that doesn’t mean we aren’t loved. Our feelings can lie to us. They can deceive us into believing something that isn’t true.
Which is exactly what the devil wants to happen. He wants us to believe that we are forgotten by God. He wants us to believe that we are all ignored, disregarded, and forsaken. He wants us to believe those lies so that we don’t live in the truth. He wants us to feel forgotten by God.
They Will Not Be Forgotten
Because the truth is that God is holding you in his arms every moment of every day. He is singing a joyful love song over you right now. The truth is that God takes great delight in you and He never lets you go. Even when the clouds roll in and we can’t see His light, He is still there right by your side.
In Isaiah 49:15 the bible tells us,
“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast
and have no compassion on the child she has borne?
Though she may forget,
I will not forget you!
Isaiah 49:15 NIV
As moms, we know how much we love our children. It feels impossible to forget them. And yet the bible says it is easier for us to forget them, then it is for God to forget us.
Don’t let your feelings deceive you, sweet Mama.
God has not forgotten you.
The clouds may have rolled in. The night may seem like it will never end. But even in the dark, God is singing a love song over you while He holds you in His arms.
