Amid all of the “glowing” that comes with budding Motherhood, it isn’t often that the stress and uncertainty of being a mom are highlighted. Let’s dive into some of my favorite Bible verses for struggling moms that can offer peace and strength on even the hardest days. Even the best manuals cannot prepare moms for the ongoing demand and load along this journey. Many moms may feel helpless, clueless, and weary – and if that isn’t enough, they feel guilt and shame for feeling this way!
If you’re reading this, chances are you’re either in a season of struggle or you know someone who is. Whether you’re a single mom navigating the daily grind or a busy mom just trying to stay afloat, we all have our tough days. But the good news is, the Word of God is full of comfort and encouragement for us.
The following bible verses for struggling moms shed light back on those not-so-glowing moments and remind us of how to best overcome the toughest days.

Bible Verses for Struggling Moms
Are you struggling? Not only mom’s struggle. We all go through seasons in our lives when life seems like a daily uphill struggle. The Bible has plenty to say about this. There’s an element of vulnerability to admit if we are in a season of hard days, but why stay there? Yes, we are going to discuss some Bible verses that will encourage us when we find ourselves in a mentality of struggle, but we need to find victory in Christ. Dare I say that when we abide in Christ we will find abundance in our lives.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
John 10:10 (ESV)
More on the abundant life of a believer.
There are many bible verses for life struggles because the Bible does not sugarcoat things. The Bible is straightforward in acknowledging that this world is sinful and that Christ is the only answer when life gets hard.
Galatians 6:9
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
Galatians 6:9 ESV
For the mom who feels weary and as if her daily work is mundane and yielding no fruit. This verse is like a gentle nudge from our heavenly Father. If you’re feeling overwhelmed and like you’re running on empty, remember that God sees your good work. I suspect that the hidden moments of motherhood when we are faithful to our calling, but no one sees them, will be the moments that add up to the longed-for phrase, Well done, good and faithful servant (Matthew 25:23).
Whether you’re a first-time mom or have young children, the promise here is clear: keep going, and you will see the fruits of your labor in due time.
Psalm 61:2
From the end of the earth I will cry to You, when my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
Psalm 61:2 ESV
When the weight of motherhood feels heavy, and you’re struggling to find your footing, this verse is a reminder to lean on God. He’s our rock and refuge, the one who provides peace of mind and the strength to keep moving forward.
Philippians 2:14-15
Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,
Philippians 2:14-15 ESV
Let’s face it—being a mom can sometimes feel like you’re stuck in a never-ending cycle of challenges. But this verse encourages us to maintain a heart of gratitude and joy, reflecting the love of God in our everyday life. Even when times are tough, you’re shining a light in the dark.
Ephesians 4:2
For the mom who needs a reminder on how to keep her cool and handle her children in those challenging moments. Motherhood is a journey filled with ups and downs, and this verse speaks to the importance of patience and love. Whether you’re dealing with a challenging day or navigating tough times with your children, humility and gentleness are key to keeping the peace of God in your home.
With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love.
Ephesians 4:2 ESV
More on Biblical hope for mom rage.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
For the mom who needs a reaffirmation of the meaning of love for herself. As well as a standard of biblical love from which she may teach her children. This passage is a beautiful picture of the love we are called to embody. In the midst of the challenges of motherhood, remembering these attributes can help you navigate the tough days with grace and compassion. It’s a reminder of the love of God and the power of Christ working through us.
Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails…
I Corinthians 13:4-8 ESV
Psalm 145:8
For the mom who desires to reflect God in her character and needs help with anger. When you’re feeling like you’re not enough, remember that our Father of Mercies is full of grace and compassion. His love is unfailing and abundant, giving you the strength to face each new day with a hopeful heart.
The Lord is gracious and merciful; slow to anger and great in loving kindness.
Psalm 145:8 ESV
Psalm 127:3
This verse is a reminder of the precious gift of motherhood. Even on the toughest days, when you’re feeling like you’re struggling, remember that your children are a blessing. They are a reward and a testament to God’s goodness in your life.
More on the high calling of motherhood.
Behold, children are a gift of the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward. Psalm 127:3
Psalm 127:3 ESV
Isaiah 26:3
In the midst of an anxious mom’s busy life, this verse offers a promise of perfect peace. By trusting in God and keeping your mind focused on Him, you can find a deep sense of calm and reassurance, even when the world around you feels chaotic.
More on anxiety in motherhood.
More on being an overwhelmed mom.
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.
Isaiah 26:3 ESV
The Journey of a Struggling Mom
While you take the time to meditate on these bible verses for struggling moms, remember that Motherhood is a journey. I once heard someone say, “The days are long, but the years are short.” These words couldn’t be truer. One day, the room that never seemed to stay clean will be empty, and our kids will be the next generation of adults who are governing the world and living their lives.
Don’t discount those Titus 2 women who have gone before you. Seek out older women who have walked these moments of motherhood before you. You will find encouragement and wisdom in their season of life.
Being a mom, whether you’re a single mama or managing a household with multiple children, can be incredibly rewarding but also incredibly challenging. The journey of a struggling mom often involves balancing a million tasks, dealing with your own weariness, and seeking to nurture your family with God’s love. Remember, you’re not alone. God’s strength and the peace of God are available to guide and sustain you through every difficult time.
As you parent, train your eyes to see them for their future selves. Let this be a guide in how you speak to them, train them, mold them, love them, and live out your own life in front of them. No matter how out of control your situation may be, consider the high calling that has been placed on you as “Mother”.

Prayer Points for Struggling Moms
Here are some prayer points that help to strengthen and bring perspective to struggling moms:
- For Strength and Courage: Pray for the power of the Holy Spirit to fill you with the strength you need each day. Ask God to replace your spirit of fear with a spirit of good courage.
- For Wisdom and Guidance: Seek God’s guidance for the right path in challenging times. Pray that you can discern His will and follow it with faith and trust.
- For Peace of Mind: Request God’s perfect peace to guard your heart and mind, helping you to stay calm and focused even when overwhelmed.
- For Renewed Energy: Ask the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ to renew your energy and give you the vitality to handle your daily responsibilities.
- For Encouragement and Hope: Pray for encouragement and a reminder of God’s unfailing love and promises. Let His words of encouragement lift your spirits and reinforce your hope.
Remember, you are not alone. Many mothers have been (and are in your shoes). Take it one day at a time and when that is still too much, take it one minute at a time. Choose your battles (and your tasks) and remember God is Lord over the impossible – not you. Allow this to free you from the mentality of perfectionism and sorrow over failures.
He is near to the struggling mom who is brokenhearted and can’t see her way. Remember, each step of the way is covered by God’s love and grace. You’re doing a good job on your motherhood journey, and even on the toughest days, God is right there with you. Keep trusting Him, lean on His promises, and know that His love will see you through.
