    What does God say about mothers?

    In the book of Isaiah 66:13 the bible says:

    "As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.”

    Isaiah 66:13 NIV

    Comfort is defined by the dictionary as a state of physical ease and freedom from pain or constraint.

    Sometimes we may feel tired, overwhelmed, or exhausted. In times like this, God is reminding us that we are not alone as he is always there to comfort us. He is a present help in times of need.

    There is not a formula in the Bible from God on how to be a good mom. There really aren't even many Bible verses for moms that specifically address motherhood. However, there are plenty of verses that give us a general idea of what God expects of us as mothers. Take for example Proverbs 1:8-9.

    Hear, my son, your father's instruction,
        and forsake not your mother's teaching,
    for they are a graceful garland for your head
        and pendants for your neck.

    Are you showing your children an attitude that would be a graceful garland? What about these verses in Proverbs. We certainly are not perfect mothers, but these Bible verses for moms can be an encouragement and blessing in directing us to be better and more Biblical moms.

    Will your children someday call you blessed? As mothers, we are to be living examples of Christ to our children. We will not always succeed. In fact, we will fail a lot. God's grace is enough as we prayerfully attempt to be a godly mother in an ungodly world.

    There are many encouraging scriptures for moms. Open your bible and see that God has given us refreshment for each season of life in our motherhood journey.

    Motherhood is a calling and also a blessing to us but it comes with its own challenges. Whenever you feel discouraged as a mom always look up to God and his scripture. These Bible verses for moms can be used to remind us of his provision. We must strive to be fully yielded to Him, we must invite Him to be Lord over our homes, we should seek Him in prayer, listen to His instructions and obey Him.

    One of the ways God speaks to us is through his word. The word of God is active and powerful, it is a comforting medication to a disturbed heart. Just like we feed, instruct, train, care for, and nurture our children, the word of God helps shape our lives to be good examples to our precious children.     Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.

    The Lord is with you in your journey of motherhood, there are a lot of things going on in the world. Do you sometimes worry about doing things right? About your children's safety outside the home? Their attitudes? About the future? The list is endless...Relax! Don't fret! Talk to God about it! He will not fail you.

    I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

    Philippians 4:13

    Is the Lord nudging you to start something, do it! Yes, you can!
    Do you feel like your assignment as a mom is too difficult? Prayerfully seek God, commit your plans to God, he will make them happen.

    But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

    We all have a weakness; it is important to acknowledge that state and seek God for strength. Humble yourself before Christ, he will manifest his power in your home in the midst of your weaknesses.

    Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

    Matthew 11:28

    For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

    Hebrews 12:11 ESV

    Discipline your child when necessary, following the leading of the Holy Spirit. Study your child and employ a method that works, discipline measure that works for child A might not work for child B. Prayerfully explore resources and be careful to know where to draw the line (Discipline is different from child abuse).

    When conversing with your children, always remember this Scripture. That way only edifying speech will come out of your mouth.

    Let the fruits of the spirit be evident in our lives in relating with our children! That way we are setting good examples. All the fruits are needed for us to have a smooth mother-to-child relationship and vice versa.

    And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.

    Philippians 4:19

    This is a reminder that God can meet all our needs! (Physical, spiritual, mental, and financial needs). The earth is the Lord's and its fullness thereof. He created us all, he gave us these children and knows all that is needed to successfully raise them. Seek God earnestly! He will give you the wisdom you need! He will reveal the plans he has for your child(ren)!

    A mother's love is powerful, but how much more powerful is the love of God! As you walk through your mothering journey, remember that what you feel for your children is only a fraction of the love that God feels for his children.

    I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.

    3 John 1:4 ESV

    There are very things more lovely on this earth than to know your child is walking in the truth of the scripture. Although this 'joy' the scripture passage is referencing seems to be directed at the church body instead of a biological child, I think it's safe to say that the same truth can be applied.
