Where can I buy these books, what are the best ages for these books, and where can I buy them? Let’s dive deeper into those questions.
Benefits of Memorizing Scripture
Why do we look at Bible verses to remember with our kids? Why do we memorize scripture? Scripture memorization from the Word of God is actually essential as we seek to follow Christ Jesus in this world and pursue the glory of God. Here is a quote directly from the Truth 78 Ministries page that does an excellent job summarizing this series and how it is designed
This series is designed to help parents, teachers, and caregivers instruct the mind, engage the heart, and influence the will of children as they learn new Scripture. Each page shows pictures and asks questions to engage preschoolers in understanding the verse. Repetition of the verse throughout the book helps children memorize the Bible verse (ESV) after just a few readings. Also included are pointers for helping children memorize Scripture and suggestions for activities that will reinforce “Living by the Word.”
Truth78 Ministries
Remember Jesus also memorized scripture and we are called to follow in his footsteps! Here are a few more practical reasons we may want to do scripture memorization with our children and ourselves.
- Increases our wisdom
- Memorization of scripture renews our mind
- Allows us to encourage others with scripture
- Develops our relationship with God
- Strengthens our sense of right and wrong
Would you add anything else to my list? There are so many benefits to learning scripture, especially for children as they learn about the world around them!
Bible Verses to Remember Book Series
The series is written by Sally Michael and illustrated by Sengsavane Chounramany. Together they have created a colorful and unique book series that helps children memorize and understand Bible verses and how they apply to our faith in Jesus Christ.
Currently, there are three books:
- Give God Your Worries: Bible Verses to Remember
- Good Gifts Come from God: Bible Verses to Remember
- Our Great God: Bible Verses to Remember
Sally Michael is the co-founder of Truth78, which focuses on discipleship for the joy of the next generation. She has authored curricula books and has a passion for developing God-centered resources for children. She served as the minister for children at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota under the leadership of Pastor John Piper and her husband, David. Sally and David now live in Indianapolis, Indiana where they enjoy spending time with their daughter and son-in-law plus their three grandchildren.
Each book contains an important Bible verse to help a child further their own understanding of the Kingdom of God.
1 Peter 5:7
casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
This memory verse is highlighted in the book Give God Your Worries. The book capsizes on the idea that God takes care of everything in his world, and he takes care of his people (kids) too.
Give God your Worries
Let’s talk a little more about the Give God Your Worries book. The Bible verse to remember (as stated above) is 1 Peter 5:7, which is a short memory verse and fairly easy for a child, even a small child, to remember. If you have a child who struggles with anxiety or worry, this is a great way to start helping them realize that the best way to find the peace of God is to give the worries to him.
It is truly a beautiful book that is practical in nature, but also engaging for a child to sit and read with a parent. If your child is going through trials of various kinds, I believe this would be a wonderful book to present to them and work through together!
James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above
This short Bible verse is highlighted in the book Good Gifts from God. This book focuses on the idea that Christ Jesus gives us many good gifts. However, the greatest gift that God sent us was the Lord Jesus Christ. It is from that free gift of god that we can receive eternal life.
Good Gifts Come From God
This is my favorite book right now in the entire series! It is a great book to review before we go into the season of gift-giving and the holidays. The book does an excellent job of pointing children to the greatest gift of Jesus. Along the way, they are asked questions such as “Where do your gifts come from?”, “Do gifts fall out of the sky?”, and “When someone gives you a gift, what do you do?” It will also challenge children to do good work and give to others.
The book ends with a beautiful illustration of Bethlehem and the manger scene. Although the book is not a Christmas book, I found the point of Jesus being our greatest gift, refreshing and lovely.

Psalm 93:5
For the Lord is a great God,
and a great King above all gods.
The last of our Bible verses to remember comes from the Psalms. The book Our Great God seeks to teach children about God’s word and his great love for them. The book starts out by asking children what makes them so happy that they feel like singing. The conclusion to this question is that the greatest reason to sing is when we think about God.
Our Great God
Our last book in the series is Our Great God and it may just be the most important book. It challenges children to see that the Lord is a great God and worship him completely! Although not specifically mentioned, your children will learn that God is omnipotent, all-powerful, and omnipresent throughout the reading. It will also remind children of the powerful love of God and how precious they are to him.
Where to Buy the Bible Verses to Remember Series?
I highly encourage you to buy these books from New Growth Press as a bundle as it is a great publishing company that produces gospel-filled books for all ages. The bundle is also going to be cheaper than buying individual books.
These smaller companies need more of our support than Amazon does! Don’t worry though, there’s no condemnation from me if you choose to buy from Amazon, as I frequently use them too. Just please consider shopping away from it when you can.
I have provided both links for your convenience!
We have so many New Growth Press-published books and we have never been disappointed with the content. Another recent favorite has been the Really Radical Book for Kids and the Acrostic Theology for Kids.
The Layout
I absolutely love the layout of these books! Each book starts with some questions that lead the child into the theme and memory verse of the book. Each page has short sentences, and many questions to pique a child’s interest, plus it’s written in a sing-song way.
I truthfully love that there are so many questions that engage a child to think through the theme of the book. As the book comes to a close all the questions have been asked.
Each book concludes with a three-page section of Parent Notes. These notes include ‘how to use section’ with three sections:
- To Instruct the Mind
- To Engage the Heart
- To Influence the Will
The next page contains tips for parents to help their young children memorize scripture. There are some very practical tips in this section. Repetition is important for scripture memorization, but she also offers other practical wisdom. If you would like more resources on helping your children remember scripture, my friend Mindy has a great Bible memory game!
Recommended Ages
The recommended age for these picture books is 3-6 years old, but I do think the books would be beneficial for ages younger than that and older. The recommended ages are truly just guidelines. There are many younger and older children who will still enjoy these books.

Final Mom Thoughts
I am in absolute love with this series and I hope that Sally Michael writes more. She has a true understanding of the questions that children ask and how to answer them in an intriguing, but helpful way.
As I’ve said before in this post, my favorite book currently is Good Gifts from God because I believe it challenges children to think about gifts in a different way than we typically present as parents. I often find myself encouraging my children to give instead of receive, but this book goes a different route by reminding children why we give in the first place.
I highly recommend this book series and hope that you will check them out over on New Growth Press!
